QuestBridge National College Match 2012-2013

Which colleges said that?

I believe that the regular decision FA is not guaranteed, unlike the match. but most of us will probably get very nice financial aid or full ride if accepted through RD anyways. it depends on what colleges u applied for also. Not all QB schools pay 100% demonstrated need.

Princeton says it on its respective section on their website. MIT said it in an email conversation that I had with them.

That makes sense crispmonk

Thank you !

yeah that’s why im not too stressing over the match, even though it would be amazing if i get it…

Hey did anyone else rank Tufts University?
I feel not too many did for some reason and I’m all alone lol

Someone at my school did. But it’s true that there do seem to be very few. Higher chance of acceptance

anybody applied for Emory?

Not that I know of. How many of you just did the 4 nonbinding colleges?

I didn’t rank any of them. Too competitive…
how many ppl from ur school is a QB finalist?

I think about 5 - 6 were finalists, but only 4 ranked. You?

1 at my school-Me
(I go to a small school though)

im the only finalist. one other applied but didn’t make it to finalist…she was very qualified for this but one of her teacher forgot to write the rec letter, so she got rejected from QB

I ranked only the four non-binding schools, but that’s only because they were already my top 4 choices.

@ Crispmonk
Jeez that’s terrible
I’m really glad I asked my teachers well before the deadline

As the mom of a past Match recipient, I just wanted to say good luck to all of you. A couple of things came to mind. As has been discussed, some that are matched will get calls, but not all. Don’t stare at the phone and look for the area code for QB in CA, my D’s came from a TX cell phone of an alumni of her match school. Some of you may match and not get an email till much later in the night…try not to lose hope if you don’t have a call or an email when another CC’er posts they have gotten in somewhere. Every year people want to know about what school a poster is matched with, what a match person’s last name starts with, what geographic region are they are in, and then assume because somebody from X got into Y with the last name Z that ther is no hope for them. There is NO RHYME OR REASON in what order calls or emails come in. I can’t think of which school it was, but there was some LAC that was actually calling their recipients the night before the match. Lastly, check your spam. :)

Edit: If eligible, consider applying to the Gates Scholarship as well. You can stack QB and Gates, and Gates will cover your work study, essentially giving you a check each semester for what you were expected to earn through WS.

did ur d get matched to rice?

No, she went to Amherst. Are you assuming Rice because I mentioned a Texas area code? The Amherst alum that made her call had a TX cell. I wanted to make the point that your match phone call can come from any area code.

oh i see. that phone call must have been an amazing feeling…
