Gratz to all the matchees! I truly am happy for all of you guys. Wish the rest of us luck on our ED’s/EA’s and RD’s rounds!

btw. I got the Northwestern email too, think it means anything?

It is very significant, please see my earlier post. Last year a number of people were contacted and urged to apply early decision, almost all (save one) were accepted ED. So if Northwestern is where he wants to be, I would say chances are he is in, you just need to finish the application process.

Matched to the University of Chicago.

Olipond, I had forgotten your post. However, he wants to let his apps ride into RD so he can see what happens with all of them. So that’s cool.

On that note, I have a question. UChicago said that unmatched finalists would receive a chance at Early Admission. Am I allowed to pair (theoretically) the Northwestern ED and the UChicago EA?

Olipond, when were those people notified that they were in the select group? The next day? How does that work with brown if the deadline was early Nov,and ed decisions come out in 2weeks?

Matched with Pomona! Got the call during my sixth period and ran out of the room and bawled.

@confetti I don’t think this particular northwestern email is significant because it repeats the same information on the questbridge website about emailing him to apply ED. @wallysmithjr Yes you should be able to apply to northwestern ED because UChicago EA is not binding.

The “invitations” happened within a few days. The letter was worded like “you are part of a select group”, and it was obvious from the wording that they would be accepted if they applied. Note though: a few of these people had refugee status, not yet citizens, but legally here as refugees. I have a feeling that is why they were not ‘matched’. I think they were also contacted by telephone. (At least as far as Brown is concerned) Darthmouth is another school that did this, and again, it was within a few days. A couple of people printed the entire sum and substance of these letters on facebook, they were worded a bit more strongly then “likely” letters.

The other question: You can only apply to ONE school ED, but you can combine that with any number of EA applications.

@Countrygirl: Pomona rocks. It is like a country club or a luxury cruise. If we could do it all over again, we would have ranked them.

Thanks, I second what OcarinaGirl said, in that this particular Northwestern letter seemed very generic and common. Nothing like a “likely” letter or strong words to indicate such a likelihood.

@Olipond
Thank you! My friend is currently a sophomore there and tells me only great things. I just got my email from the Dean of Admissions. This is all so surreal.

Matched to davidson! oh my goodness!!!
thank you so much QB!

Thanks for all the feedback. On third reading, I agree with the consensus - this email doesn’t say anything specific other than they enroll many QuestBridge students. So we’re on to RD!

Matched to Princeton! Sadly, I missed the phone call from the admissions officer/rep…

Congrats to all that got matched, and good luck to all the rest in RD.

If you got matched, did your email say how many total got matched this year, and how many from your particular school? I know these things have been in the emails in previous years.

My email just stated how many Finalists were matched (383) and how many were matched to Northwestern (15).

Sorry, not my email, but the update on the QuestBridge page.

I was matched to Brown University! I’m still in shock. It was my first choice, but I actually thought I’d get rejected. Realistically, I thought that if I were matched, it’d be to either of my last two ranked schools. I found out around 4:30ish EST by checking my email. I got a phone call maybe 20 minutes later from a lady from QB. I also got a phone call 10 minutes after the first call from the CEO of QB because his in-laws are from my city. I probably sounded like a zombie to them because I was still in shock and speechless, haha! Right now, I just feel truly blessed and honored!

Mine said 383 total finalists matched, 13 of whom were matched to Pomona.

I’m curious as to how many Columbia accepted. Did anyone get matched with Columbia?
