QuestBridge National College Match 2012-2013

28 to Stanford.

Holy cow, many more matched this year, I think last year it was only 325. Especially U of chicago and Stanford. Princeton took way more this year as well. Way to go QB! As far as ‘likely’ letters, the best thing to do is ask around, those who got the ‘special invitations’, were singled out, and only few got the letter. Fewer still got the special phone call.
Anyone hear from Gator? I was hoping he would get matched.

Hello All. Congrats to all who were matched! My daughter was not matched; however, she received an email from MIT to apply early decision. Does that mean anything or was that email sent to everyone who ranked MIT?

@momofateen16

Refer to Olipond’s previous posts, and also read the email carefully again. Read between the lines. Does it seem indicative of a likely acceptance?

No match. Very sad.

@momofateen16 I got an MIT email too, with instructions on what to do next (go to EA, RD, or withdraw).

I didn’t realize how high my hopes were until I read the rejection letter. At least I get an EA decision from MIT soon. Hoping for good news.

Congratulations to everyone who got matched!

Thank you all for your replies. @DolphinBoy…You will get good news -whether MIT or another amazing college! I told my daughter not to stress herself too much as I am sure she will get admitted somewhere great! Just continue to strive and always try your best! AS you can see from the thread…MIT only admitted 5 people through the match program. To all the parents on here, thank you for being so supportive!

No match. Very sad. but I need to forcus ED and RD! Two years ago my brother get rejection letter. but Hi is in Princeton now! I NEVER GIVE UP!!!

Olipond, 5 years ago when my D was matched, there were only 204! There were fewer partner schools of course but it is so nice to see the number growing each year. I am pleasantly surprised that Amherst has 16, considering the size of the school.

No match here. Surprisingly not as disappointed as I thought I’d be. Now the interview I had on thursday can factor into RD and round out my application. To the others who were not matched, don’t worry! Think about it this way, you applied to several colleges for FREE! You have the QB badge and will be on the radar of many colleges. Congrats to all the matches!

There were 10 finalists matched to Davidson!

I was matched to Haverford College. Not my top choice and now im a little nervous that the decision is binding but excited about the scholarship none the less.

10 were matched to Haverford

So the decision came out, and I am a person that did not get matched. HOWEVER, It did say for those interested that NW and Wellesley were still available to do if we expressed interest before Dec 9th. I am having a very hard time with whtether to do NW or Wellesley and I need help on it. I figured this thread would be best since it takes into an account our financial situations. But I don’t want to post if anyone is not interested; can anyone respond to this?

I was matched with Stanford!! This is surreal!!!

Re: Wellesley, I’d be happy to help! This is where my D was matched. Here is what I love about Wellesley:
-small size, very very safe community (as in, this is where the 1% all live…lol) however, shuttles every hour to Boston, MIT, Harvard etc. Also Sat shuttles to Target and the malls.
-cross registration, meaning you can branch out. Next year my daughter wants to take more classes at MIT, or some legal classes at Brandeis.
-The campus is beautiful, and the women are, for the most part, deadly serious about academics and career. You do not have people who skip class, there are very few, if any ‘slackers’.
-there are a huge number of ‘orgs’, and unlike some of the larger places, you actually stand a chance of ‘making the team’.
-Much like Pomona, Wellesley is what I call a ‘country club’ college. All sorts of super cool activities! It reminds me of a luxury cruise, where every month they offer some elaborate ‘excursion’.
-One of my daughter’s favorite things? They have a huge next to new sale at the beginning of the year, in order that people from warm climates or overseas might buy coats, ugg boots, fridges etc. Everything is super cheap.

The negative (according to my daughter, I do not happen to agree) is: no boys.
Another negative-according to almost everyone-is the town has only ultra expensive boutiques, arts stores etc. The ‘ville’ is geared toward the 1% who can afford to live in Wellesley.

how many were matched to yale?

Has anyone gotten any emails from Columbia, Penn, or Dartmouth asking them to do ED?

Someone got one from Columbia… I didn’t :confused: They kind of added onto the wound there. >.<

@momofateen16

I think everyone who ranked MIT is automatically put in the early decision pool unless they opt to wait till regular decision. What exactly did that email say?

Also, has anyone that ranked Stanford but did not match hear from them? Should we get an email?

i didnt get anything for stanford… I didn’t get anything from anyone except MIT.

*For anyone who ranked UChicago

Is UChicago automatically going to consider us for EA, or do we need to sent them an email?
