I wish so much I would be matched. I wish the acceptance rate was at least 10% overall. Oh well…

and lol, I got contacted for a Harvard interview on December 2nd. I’m going to have to make a really awkward phone call to my interviewer if I’m matched (by some miracle.)

By the way, how many schools did everyone rank? I ranked a full 8. :3

@Lesleyclovesyou13: Last year, the match rate was around 10% among Finalists – there were between 3000 and 4000 Finalists, and 321 were matched. Also, the acceptance rate is almost certainly higher, considering that students who are qualified to be matched have strong chances of being accepted to more than one of the schools they ranked. (Put another way, a match is only counted once, regardless of how many ranked schools a match recipient was accepted to. The number of matches is lower than the number of acceptances.)

Good luck to all of you! My daughter was a match five years ago, and it literally changed her life. I just wanted to address a couple of things on this thread. Having or not having an interview before the Match date is not going to affect you. Interviews are generally something that alumni do to promote their school, and unless you are a complete psycho, you will get a “student so and so was nice and seems interested in X school.” Also, back on the thread, there was speculation that schools were still making their decisions and that some people didn’t hear until 5 pm or so on match date. I am sure ALL the schools have made their decisions already, remember they send in their list to QB in CA of the students they would like, then QB has to run their algorithm to assess which school gets which student. The reason for the “late” 5 p.m. calls, simply kids are in school and can’t answer their phones earlier. My daughter got her call at 4 something. We were looking for an area code from the area that QB is in, but she got her call from a TX cell, from an alum of the school that matched her. Make sure you answer all calls, and again, good luck to all of you!

@GA2012MOM, if that’s the case concerning decisions, I’m not sure what I should do with my impending interview. The interviewer hasn’t contacted me back, and I’m wondering if I should wait after match notifications on friday to call again to either say I don’t need an interview (if I’m matched) or to set one up in a few weeks for consideration for RD. I don’t want to waste their time and rush an interview for this week if it’s not going to have any impact.

You should keep the interview date that is convenient for them. The alumni interview is prob the least important part of your interview. Alumni do these as a courtesy to their school, and you need to work around their schedule, they are doing you the favor. It will have NO bearing on your match now but may for RD.
