stump, that’s why ds didn’t match any schools. I wouldn’t let him take that gamble. Of course, a full ride would make me fall in love with the school come hell or high water.

Wesleyan makes their qb decisions today…

do we get to know today too, that is for Wesleyan

what is your first choice?

@Treestump That is why I looked for as many campus tours as possible. I even took my own tour of the campuses through Google Maps Street View. I’m also not worried because I’ve done a lot of research on the social atmosphere for each school.

@charlieb320, how do you know wesleyan is making decisions today?
i didnt rank wesleyan but i am just wondering why you know that

Aw I wish I had could have had the chance to rank Wesleyan
Unfortunately only 8 spots lol

@whiteout They emailed me with my Simon info but I called because it looked like some stuff was missing. They told me to ignore the missing stuff listed because I’m with QB and they didn’t get a chance to check for it yet because they are reviewing QB apps starting today.

@charlieb320

Wait…so you mean Wesleyan starts reviewing their QB apps today? Less than 5 days before the Match Notification day? Either it’s planned madness or severe procrastination on their part…

But then again, maybe the number of people who matched Wesleyan isn’t all too overwhelming.

^Interesting, I wonder if Wesleyan is the only one that does this. Maybe they all work like that?

Well I feel like Wes is just that cool and laid back. Ugh, I love this school so much. Some of the other small LACs (with less of a QB app yield) might do it late as well.

@SwaggaLikeANerd do you mind me asking what schools you decided to rank? My strategy was to rank reach schools that I would undoubtedly go to if matched based on academics, prestige, and rank. I assumed that they were ranked high for a reason, and that hopefully they would be a good fit.

@Treestump Yeah, sure no problem. I ranked Rice, Oberlin, Stanford, Carleton, Grinnell, UChicago, Pomona, and USC. I also took prestige, academics, and rank into account, but I also took in other factors (average class size, social atmosphere, political atmosphere, location, school philosophy). I did consider Williams, Bowdoin, and Notre Dame, but I just couldn’t see myself in either of them for different reasons. I’d rather be at a slightly lower-ranked college that I KNOW will be a fit, instead of a slightly higher-ranked one that I don’t see as a fit with my personality and personal preferences.

On another note, is there any college that you guys regret not ranking? I regret not ranking Northwestern :’(

i dont regret my rankings. i ranked only one college

I can’t wait to find out, but at the same time I like not knowing (because I most likely won’t get matched). So quick question! I am worried that my act score is a little on the low end compared to the 30s that most of the schools expect, but the other parts of my applications are good, should I even dream of being matched/accepted? BTW i ranked Stanford, Yale, Columbia in that order. Thanks!

I wish I had could have ranked Pomona, UChicago, and Brown
I suppose if I don’t get matched I could go RD for them :)

DS1 is at Carleton, so if any of you get in, feel free to PM me with questions. He loves it there. I just wish it had been a QB school when he applied.

So do they call to say you did not get matched too? or is that by e-mail?

@Youdon’tsay haha thanks for the offer

@Yes, you do have a shot of being matched. About 12% of last year’s college match recipients scored less than 1200 on the SATs; the average SAT score a QB finalist is 1302. So, if you’re slightly below an ACT of 30, then you should still have a shot.

i think they look at things other than just scores. your essays and such matter too
