QuestBridge National College Match 2012-2013

I ranked the three non-binding schools (excluding MIT) for the scholarship, because I didn’t want to apply to any Early Decision colleges. But I kind of regret doing that, since I really don’t want to do my Regular Decision applications. :[

I think my best chances are for Scripps but I also have read on this site that Scripps only accepts Hispanics/Latinos through QB…too bad I’m half White and half Asian…

4 days left and ive probably never been more restless. last night i woke up constantly from dreams about the decision this Friday. Like all night… my mom tells me to calm down but i dont think i can

@SwaggaLikeANerd wow 12% got matched with less than 1200?? That is close to 40 people! Thanks that helped!

@coco101 No problem.

@whiteout13 Lol. Lately, I’ve been fantasizing about receiving the scholarship and getting matched. Gosh, if we get matched, then I am sure it is going to be a very emotional moment.

Just try not to do what my daughter did. She screamed VERY loud, then proceded to apologize to the caller. :)

3 days, 22 hours,11 minutes, 20 seconds until Friday at 8:00 p.m. eastern time. OMG

^ Lol. Do you have a countdown timer? Are you guys going to open your emails in solitude or with family surrounding you?

@GA2012MOM

:) If you hear a faint shriek coming from the West on Friday sometime around 3…

Hey does anyone know how most colleges calculate EFC based on real estate? Based on the QuestBridge application, I have a household income of below 50,000. The application only took real estate into account by asking how much income you receive monthly, but nowhere on the application did it ask for total value of real estate. The CSS profile made a huge deal about it. Anyone able to clear this up? Do the QB colleges look at income based on QB application or do they have their own formulas?

Getting that phone call is a pretty exciting thing, I wish all of you the best of luck! While some schools seem to select a number of QBers, those schools often receive a huge number of QB match applications. (Stanford, Yale and MIT) Last year Haverford accepted 50% of those who applied ED (at least this is what I heard) so, to the finalist who ranked Haverford, I would say the odds are in your favor.
Our only regret, (as an applicant matched last year) is that we didn’t rank Pomona based on its geographic distance. Many of the QB schools are of course ‘status’ schools (Ivies), but you might find that for a more fulfilling undergraduate experience, schools like Haverford, Swarthmore, Wellesley, Davidson and Pamona are a better fit. Wellesley and Pamona in particular are like a luxury cruise, the ‘extras’ provided to its students is really beyond the pale. (I’ve heard the same about Swarthmore)

@bestlife this is super late, but you have a really good chance of being matched… Your stats are awesome andd your income is definitely low enough… Good luck. :)

69 - ~80 hours until we hear! :O

Just curious… Is anyone on this thread also on the QB finalist group? haha

EDIT: Regrets on ranking: I did Explore Bowdoin, and I really, really liked, even loved, the school. However, when I ranked my schools, I didn’t include Bowdoin… At the time, I didn’t even know I was going to be accepted, so I didn’t even think to include it… I would’ve definitely ranked Bowdoin over Dartmouth. I also kind of regret not ranking Brown, but not as much as Bowdoin.

@Lesleyclovesyou13 the group as in Facebook group?

mhm^ woops. forgot a word. Lol

@Lesleyclovesyou13 : Thank you!

@Olipond: Thank you for told about Haverford. I ranked Haverford for Science department!!!

Someone please confirm: phone call = match; email = not matched

@nineteen121 Nope! Everyone gets an email, and SOME matches get phone calls.

No phone call = don’t worry about it.

I think I got a procrastinator as an interviewer. He just scheduled for thursday! How awkward is it going to be when I tell him I find out my admissions decision the day after? Oh well I guess:P

@DolphinBoy how do you know that only some get calls?

Do only certain schools make calls?

Or do only certain students get calls?

If it is the first, does anyone know which schools call?
