As I understand from the website, those must be faxed by the school counselor. However, my school doesn't keep our offical test scores, so how do we do that? Ask collegeboard to send one?

For other people who are applying, how are you guys dealing with this?

thanks!

My son is having the same problem; our school doesn't have the test scores. In addition, they are refusing to fax the transcripts. They said it is the policy of our entire school system not to fax any personal info! This is going to be a very painful application process...

I just called collegeboard and they sent the standarized test scores to my school, free of charge. I don't think Qbridge requires AP scores however becuase the AP service won't send the OFFICIAL to schools either.

bondgirl, maybe you should talk to the specific counselor. That's what I did. My school doesn't usual do stuff like this, but she made a exception in my case.

I'm having the same issue but hopefully it will get resolved before the deadline. I wish they could have used our information from the college prep application

Google2008, I followed your lead and called collegeboard to have official test scores sent to my D guidance counselor, and they told me NO, they would only send them to "colleges or universities." My D school has never even heard of Questbridge, there are virtually no low income or minorities at her school, i guess that is why. Her GC told her to "just make a copy from collegeboard", but Questbridge says to have GC fax "official test scores" to be faxed, jeez what a headache. I did send an e-mail to Questbridge to clarify what is acceptable. Does anybody else know anything in reference to any of this? Thanks

If your school doesn't have the scores on the transcript, then I think you can send the scores directly to Questbridge from the testing services, but I am not 100% on that. You'd have to call or email Questbridge.

Questbridge's SAT Code is 5446 and with the ACT, you can use the code 7000 for an uncoded recipient and manually enter the Questbridge address.

But again, I am not 100% sure on that so you should verify it and let us know what they say. At my D's school, they already have all her test scores on file.

Wow, thanks for the info, I am wondering why collegeboard did not inform me about the SAT code, I did specify that is was for Questbridge. I am trying to get in touch with GC to clarify this about them not having test scores on file. It doesn't make any sense, because I know they put up names on big bulletin boards around the school of students who have scored high, so how would they know to put those up?..........if they did not have them on file? I guess I will try to call the GC again for the 10th time!

I found the Questbridge SAT code on my own by going to "send scores" and typing in "questbridge" and selecting "California" and it came up with their info, so I guess they can send it directly to them. But again, I haven't verified it with QB that they'll accept the scores directly from collegeboard (though I can't see why they wouldn't). I didn't actually send them any scores yet, I was just seeing if the info was there since it might come in handy later. But please do let me know if you find out anything from Questbridge.

I just sent another e-mail to Questbridge after finally talking to GC. She said the school only has a master list of student names/test scores. She said they no longer include it on transcripts because a lot of schools wouldn't
accept it, which doesn't make any sense either. She did suggest I ask Questbridge if I can print off a copy off collegboard, then she could affix the high school seal, and then fax it. I will let you know what I find out from Questbridge, it says to allow 48 hours for a response from them.

That was quick, Questbridge just e-mailed me back and said it is okay to make a copy off collegeboard, then give to GC to fax. that checks one more thing off list!

Thanks for that, it will save some money since it will be expensive to send so many reports and the CSS Profile, too.

justlouise, they did also say that "official" ones will need to be sent to the schools that you are applying to, but I'm not sure if that needs to be done before or after learning of finalist status.........sighing.

I would think it could be sent after the finalists are chosen since I don't think they even forward the apps until then. But I think all the schools have a pretty tight deadline for all the additional info, so I guess it all depends on if you feel pretty confident that you'll make finalist or not if you want to spend the money and send them earlier. It just adds up to a lot of $$.

I wish that you could just send the official scores to Questbridge and they could forward them along with the apps. That would make the most sense.

sorry ga2012mom! :( idk why but collegeboard sent my school mine. I even got email confirmations.

we don't need ap scores reports right?

The man I talkied to was very rude, I was thinking about calling back and talking to someone else, but at that point I was mad! I don't thinks ap scores need to be sent, but I am having D take copy of them so GC can send them as well, better be on the safe side. As I said in previous post, GC has never heard of Questbridge, she thinks it is just "another scholarship" offer, .....................

Don't feel bad, our GC has never heard of Questbridge either and we live in a low income area. I think mainly bc looking at my D's transcript only 38% of graduates go on to any higher education and the rest (from the attitudes I have encountered) feel that scholarships are just handed to you. In some cases it is true but I am not willing to bank on that. Anyway, I can only hope that our GC uses this experience of helping D with her Questbridge app process to encourage other kids to apply in the future. Once it is all over, no matter what the outcome for us, I really want to have a long talk with GC about presenting this as an option to qualified students.

justlouise, I went back over application instructions, and it does say to have SAT and ACT reports sent to all schools you choose, so much for saving money.

Well, hopefully it will all be worth it in the end.

My D's GC is really young and pretty clueless about admission to any schools except the local CC and Big State U. Of all the kids that do go on to college from our area, about 75% go to one or the other. He doesn't seem to understand the importance of this scholarship and somehow thinks that it's either not legit or a million to one odds. I'm just hoping he'll actually turn everything in by the deadline.

Momof3, I feel the same way. I would gladly go over the program with the GC or even try to help other kids in the school find out more about this and other opportunities and programs. I guess he thinks that if everyone else is happy with the CC or State U, why encourage them to try harder. At least that's kinda the attitude I'm getting in talking to him.
