Can someone tell me whether official transcripts for college classes taken in high school need to be sent to ranked schools by Nov. 1? Or are they only looking for them after acceptance and/or enrollment? DS sent unofficial transcripts for college courses taken summers, after school, etc. but wasn't sure if he had to order official transcripts for those. (He has requested official high school transcript already).

I guess the same question could be asked for RD schools under Common App.

You would need to re-read what it says, but as best as I remember, they need an official transcript “now”, which I believe the school counselor sends directly through the QB website. This would apply for any education that he has received since (and including) 9th grade.

Thanks, I understand they need the official high school transcript now. What I am wondering is whether they need, or even want, official college transcripts now for classes he took last summer at Governor’s School, and classes he has taken in dual enrollment and at night at the local community college? He already sent “unofficial” ones with his QB app. I re-read and couldn’t find that info anywhere.

In the regular admissions process, when you are submitting the Common App or other college app, do you send official college transcripts in? I wasn’t sure if they didn’t even look at them until you were admitted, when they were considering them for credit.

Hmm, I think that all transcripts would be wanted, particularly dual enrollment, as those are high school credit which plays into high school GPA.

I think each school will handle the “credit” decision differently and I think that is a separate discussion than evaluating GPA or generally a student’s performance in a demanding course.

I presume that your S will be coming in as a freshman and not as a transfer student, correct? I know that some schools will limit how much college credit a student can earn and still be a freshman. Do you know how close you (he) is to that threshhold?

Yes, he will be a freshman. Not sure what the threshold is, he will have 6 credits from Governor’s School, 9 credits from dual enrollment, and probably only 2 APs with scores of at least 4.
