Question a/b transferring to Bates

So I've got Bates on my list and I really like the college, but I'm wondering if it's even worth applying. At schools like WUSTL, Chicago, and Cornell, they typically accept a couple hundred transfer students. Even though they're still very difficult to get into, I think that I have an ok shot b/c they're major universities with a large student body. Even at Wesleyan (the only other LAC on my list), they typically take 125-150 transfers, which is nearly as many as those major universities, so I don't feel discouraged from applying. However, at Bates they only accepted 41 students according to Collegeboard.com. Even though that's a/b 27% (out of the 149 that applied) it would seem like they take so few students that most all of them are probably from major universities.

At least at a major university, they accept a couple hundred students so it feels like I've got a chance. At a small LAC like Bates the sheer numbers are so small that it seems impossible to transfer in from a CC.

Is anyone at Bates or familiar with the number of transfer students that are typically CC students? I'm just kinda discouraged from applying and thinking of not doing it.

Bates is a good transfer choice that you should apply to. Don't get scared off.

Since Bates looks at the applications holistically, you have a decent chance as long as your essays, recs, grades, and reasons for transfer are compelling.

Also, Bates does accept kids from CC, so I would not be worried about it. I've had friends transfer into great liberal arts colleges (including Bates) from CCs...so you should apply.
