Hey Everybody, I need some major input on Bowdoin, Colby, Bates, Colgate, Hamilton, Bard, Wesleyan University, and Claremont Mckenna. The thing is, I originally wanted to apply to just UCB, UCLA, Wake Forest, Emory and Notre Dame. But I got some advice to look at LAC's because they treat you more like a individual then a number (with the exception of Wake Forest I believe). So could you guys share with me your take on the aforementioned schools. Do they require sat's, I got a gpa of 3.53 and with the fall and winter grades in, it'll be bumped up a bit higher. I'm a philosophy major, and at my cc, I really enjoy the small atmosphere, plus the low professor to student ratio is a plus. Also I'm going to law school, so any input would be great, thanks everybody.

Wesleyan takes a fair number of transfers every year (about 50-60.) If fin/aid is not a factor for you, it may be worth your while to check it out; there are scholarships available for cc transfers, but, I believe you have to be from Connecticut. I think your gpa and overall record count more than the SAT--but, you'll have to check the website for more specifics.

Wesleyan is extremely poor for transfer finaid? Good to know.

As a fellow philosophy (well, and history) student also considering Wesleyan and law school, I wish you luck!

(Though I think the GPA is a mite low)

Hey, I am applying to claremont mckenna for the spring as an econ amd a philosophy major. If you are mainly interested in philosophy, I would try pomona but not CMC. I am applying becasue I am interested in phil but I focus on econ. From what I can tell CMC's phil department is not too strong.

On two things: Wesleyan does require SAT scores for transfer applications to be complete and it IS need-blind as far as fin/aid is concerned. However, I do think cc transfer applicants should be aware that they'll be up against some very stiff competition from local cc graduates who have been made aware of special scholarships earmarked just for them:

The one thing I got is an upward swing in grades Fall-2.85, Winter-4.0, Spring-3.8, Summer-4.0 So consistency should outweigh the low gpa, plus the next two semesters should help. Also how about Reed & Kenyon college? In the end do LAC's give you a better shot then universities in terms of law school?

Well the thing is I might want to branch out into History or even Political Science as double majors, so I figure if I go to CMC, it would be a plus.
