Hello! I’m planning on applying to Columbia ED. My multiple choice ACT scores came in and I’m, well, not surprised. I took it cold, except for some prep work on the science section. I got a 34 and 35 on English and reading, but… a 23 and 24 in science and math (yeah, I know). The most I can realistically see these scores go up is to the 26-27 range (hopefully). However, my major is English so I was wondering if my low STEM score would significantly hurt my chance at the university? I know that some applicants on the low side of scores have pretty great hooks, which I don’t. However, being really focused on English, I got my work/journalism published by some big universities like Cambridge and Columbia. Is this good enough to “cancel” out my low stem score? I’m really freaking out and I’m not sure whether I should apply to the school ED anymore, even though it would be my first choice. Thank you!
