Hello, i recently read somewhere that colleges dont see how many times you take the ACT and for scores they only see the scores you send them. I'm pretty sure for the SAT they can see how many times you take it but if im looking to apply to some top schools like JHU, Duke or WUSTL do you suggest i should keep on taking the ACT to improve my score of 30 seeing ive taken it twice so far and it being true they don't see how many times you've taken it.

If you're not happy with a 30, by all means, study a little and take it again. Have you tried the SAT? Sometimes people do better on the SAT.

My first SAT attempt will be on October 4th, ill take the SAT a max of three times but is it true that colleges can't see the number of times oyu take the ACT and i could potentially take it over and over to improve my score?

OP:

if you are a Junior, then collegeboard will allow score choice for the SAT, i.e, you can pick and choose which scores go to colleges. If you are a senior, then all scores go to the colleges.

And, yes, you are correct that a higher ACT/SAT score will help a lot for those schools, since their mean ACT is a ~32. While test scores aren't everthing, being above the mean is always better than being below it, IMO.

Note, check your HS and make sure it doesn't add test scores to your transcripts; otherwise, colleges can see how many times you took the test.

And yes, it is true that colleges will only see the ACT scores that you choose to send them. You can take the test as often as you want and the schools will never know.

but will they see how many times i took the aCT, even if colelges cant see what i scored on the act wont their decision be affected if they see i take it like 5 times or something?

They don't see how many times you've taken it. My son took it 4 times.

ok, thanks for the help guys.
