question about ACTING auditions

Hello!
This is my second year of college auditions. Im currently at Western Carolina, and I'm looking for a conservatory to transfer to. I'm auditioning for UNCSA, CCPA, The Hartt School, and Shenandoah. All of these schools offer something different that I want. I was wondering if anyone on here could just tell me some things about these schools, if you go there, or have auditioned there.

What are the class sizes like?

What is the audition process like?

Is there only one style/ method taught?

How is the relationship between the acting majors and the musical theatre majors (be honest please)?

What are the available internship opportunities?

HOW IS RESIDENTIAL LIVING? (I live in a piece of crap dorm now, so its pretty important haha)

if you could just hit those points, that would be great! Im just looking for some information from students, or ANY views on these schools from people who have auditioned/visited before.

Thanks!

I only know answers for Hartt-- they look for an acting class of 12-15, so class sizes are small. The audition process (at the school)-- you do your pieces and are then interviewed by a panel of faculty-- D had three auditors including Alan Rust, dept. chair. They have a “toolbox” approach-- that is they teach many different methods, and work through all the different periods in theater. The dorms looked perfectly nice, if very typical! And as she’s not a student yet I can’t answer the others. I’m sure others will add (you can also look at the Hartt thread on the MT board…there’s a Shenandoah thread there too.)

thank you! I’ll go look through those.

Im assuming your daughter auditioned already? was it for AT or MT?

She auditioned for AT and was accepted…waiting to hear from others but really, really likes Hartt.

(Was going to mention-- UNCSA has no MT program so there won’t be conflict between AT and MT).
