Question about Admissions

Hey, I had a quick question about how Carnegie Mellon college applications work. If I choose first, second, and third option for which schools I am applying to (SCS,Mellon, Carnegie), does that mean I am applying to all three schools and I will have three separate rejection/acceptations. By choosing all three options, will I be applying to all three schools separately.

Thanks

When you apply to CMU you do choose the order of preference and complete the necessary supplements for each choice, if required, but when you get a letter CMU notifies you about all three schools at once, acceptances/waitlists/rejections

they also have another option… the ‘Priority’ waitlist. Basically, if you are put on the Priority waitlist and sign a letter stating that you will pick CMU as your first choice if taken off the wait list , then they’ll take you off the waitlist and accept you. It is a ‘qualified’ acceptance for students they assume are only applying to their school as a back-up to a higher ranked school. This prevents them from getting too many rejections and lowing their status, but giving them the option of bringing in highly qualified students…
