Question about AP books

Hey CCers! I have the following 3 textbooks at my local library (they’re the same edition as on the links):

http://www.amazon.com/Earth-Its-Peoples-Richard-Bulliet/dp/0538744383

[Amazon.com: Societies, Networks, and Transitions: A Global History (9781439085202): Craig A. Lockard: Books](http://www.amazon.com/Societies-Networks-Transitions-Global-History/dp/143908520X)

[Amazon.com: Ways of the World: A Brief Global History with Sources, Combined Volume (9780312489168): Robert W. Strayer: Books](http://www.amazon.com/Ways-World-History-Sources-Combined/dp/0312489161)

The books are all verified by Collegeboard ([AP World History: Example Textbook List](http://www.collegeboard.com/html/apcourseaudit/courses/world_history_textbook_list.html)) but I just want to ask, does the book have to be labeled “AP Edition” or it doesn’t matter? The Earth and Its Peoples book has an AP edition, does that mean that the other one in the link above is not appropriate for the AP exam, or does the AP edition just have more test taking strategies and stuff related to AP questions with the same content as the non-AP edition? I’m self studying AP world History and I don’t wanna start studying a wrong book lol.

Same thing goes for Myer’s psychology ([Amazon.com: Psychology (9781429215978): David G. Myers: Books](http://www.amazon.com/Psychology-David-G-Myers/dp/1429215976)) Does it have to have “AP edition” on it in order to be appropriate for the AP exam?

One more thing, Richard Bulliet’s (author of the Earth and its peoples) lectures are available on youtube ([Richard Bulliet - History of the World to 1500 CE (Session 1) - Introduction to World History - YouTube](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r_w7pfulsn8)). If anyone has tried them, can u tell me if they’re of any use to the AP corriculum? If you haven’t seen them before, do they look of use? He’s using his own book in the lectures :stuck_out_tongue: I just think that if he’s addressing the same stuff or having minor differences to the AP corriculum, then maybe I can use them coz I have no teacher

I’d greatly appreciate your help on these stuff :)

BR is enough for psychology. you dont need a txtbook.

I was just thinking about using it when I want more explanation about a particular concept. Got any ideas about the book versions and Bulliet’s youtube lectures thing?

Bump…

In general, AP Editions often contain the bare minimum that’s needed for the exam, or (in good AP edition books) specific sections are marked as optional knowledge that may help but isn’t directly tested. They’re often easier to understand but also may seem watered-down compared to actual college-level textbooks.

Non ap world edition more detail Ap version more cut and dry and aimed at the exam.
