<p>online on the common app, it says that the second essay where you can choose between the three options (p. 217 bio, etc.) is optional but on the paper app, it says it is required.</p>

<p>To eliminate the confusion, you should just write it. What would it look like to Penn if you were given the chance to write it and then didn't?</p>
<p>if you do commonapp, you have the option since you have to do the commonapp question, which fills the 2nd essay requirement.</p>
<p>if you do penn specific app, you have to do the "why penn" and choose one of the three options.</p>
