I'm gonna major in Physiology and Neuroscience at UCSD starting this Fall. I've been looking at some of the requirements for that major on the website and it looks like the Division of Biological Sciences gives a lot of leeway on what classes a student can take. For example, for the Calculus I course, they allow students to take either 10A or 20A, depending on how much of an aptitude they possess in math. However, I did notice that, at least in the Lower-Division Requirements, the list of required classes do not include the honors-level courses that UCSD offers. For example, P&N majors have to take Chem 6A but the list of required courses do not include Chem 6AH. So I was wondering if the honors-level courses cannot be taken for credit towards a P&N degree or if the department simply does not recommend taking harder-level courses if there are easier alternatives? Sorry, I'm a little confused on this matter. Thank you!

You most likely can. You can contact the department to ask if you’re really worried about it. You might have to contact the department to manually accept it as a requirement for your major if it doesn’t show up on your degree audit.
