Question about CSS Profile & 1040 (not A or EZ)

Hello comrades of the Financial Aid forum.

We are filling out the CSS Profile however they are asking to find numbers on the 1040A. Because my mom itemizes deductions, she does not file the 1040A, she files the 1040. Her gross wages, salaries, and earnings (81k) are significantly different than her income with the deductions in it (~47k). However we don't know what to do because the Profile is asking us to use the 1040A. We are going to call them tomorrow when their help desk is open, but I'd just like to get clarification here as well.

Thanks

Is it possible that one of the preliminary registration questions was answered incorrectly? Question 14 asks what kind of tax return the parent did or will file for 2014. If 1040A was given as the answer by mistake, that may be keying questions in the main part of the form to reference the 1040A.

Oh lord. That was exactly it. I feel so silly! thanks a lot, we would have neve rfoundit lol

Yeah, that form can be a pain. Some of the questions and supporting instructions are very poorly worded.
