It's a program for seventh-graders. See url: http://www.tip.duke.edu/talent_searches/grade_7/

You're chosen to participate based on ERB or other standardized test scores.

oh, haha. I thought it was something I could do for high school. I didn't know you start in 7th grade.

Yes, it's not something that you do like a club or anything. My daughter was eligible for it back in 7th grade. It's something that was started years ago and is a tool used to seek out outstanding students. If the are eligible (according to IQ, or Standardized tests, etc.) They take the SAT and based on what they make they receive state recognition or Grand recognition. If you receive recognition, then they send you material throughout your school years that are very helpful and also info on programs to attend.

I think its a great thing. Before being involved in TIP, I knew my daughter was smart, but didn't realize just how much potential she had. It was a real eye opener.

if you do well enough on the sat when youre in middle school, you can go to the tip summer program. i did it the summer after 8th, 9th, and 10th grades. it was probably the best experience of my life, and im sure duke likes to see that on your resume.
