Hi! I was wondering if anybody knew if Notre Dame allows you to apply to a binding, Early Decision school if you are also applying to ND early action. I've been trying to find this answer on the website, but to no avail. If anyone happens to know, that would be awesome!!

Yes they do. Applying EA to ND is like applying RD, only you find out earlier. If ND is not your first choice though, good luck getting in, especially EA.

Notre Dame definitely wasn't my first choice when I applied...I applied EA on a whim with little or no intention of actually coming here and got in...

Shellzie, son's situation was similar to yours-he was not "in love" with one particular school. He did not, however, apply to any school that had the binding early option. When he applied EA to ND, he had already been accepted at one school (rolling admissions), and applied to 2 or 3 others that had non-binding early action at the same time he applied to ND. I think he liked all of the schools he applied to and only applied if he could envision going to school there. That said, I think he wanted the flexibility to choose a school without being binded to it. And, yes he was accepted EA to ND!

While it is allowed, I wouldn't apply to other schools EA if you are applying ED just for the simple reason that you may get in to your ED school so you may as well not waste the money. I definitely hope you apply to ND and fall in love with it, it is a wonderful place, but why spent the $50 (that is what it was when I applied, I am sure it has gone up) plus the cost of recommendation letters, SAT scores, etc unless you know you have to?
