Hey guys! So I was planning on doing Early Decision 1 for Emory and Oxford, but if I don’t make it to Emory (which is probably what is going to happen considering my stats lol), will it be a binding decision to Oxford?
Or should I just apply Early Decision 1 for Emory, and then apply for Oxford during Regular Decision?
@aqc9046 You can be accepted to both Emory College and Oxford College through ED, but you must choose one over the other if accepted to both. I don’t think that you can apply to both colleges at separate times.
I see that you are skeptical about your chances at Emory College but you are relatively confident that you could be accepted to Oxford College, considering your stats. Have you compared the stats of the Emory College Class of 2019 with the stats of the Oxford College Class of 2017? Both schools, nowadays, have very similar stats for their incoming students - in fact, the closest they have ever been.
My stats are on the low side for Emory (especially GPA), while they’re a match for Oxford College. I’ve looked at the stats of the Emory College Class of 2019, but haven’t viewed the Oxford College Class of 2017 yet. I never knew that, I always thought Emory’s were a lot higher, that makes me feel better knowing that they have similar stats.
The biggest difference is GPA…the scores are very similar for admits. Also, even if they were “a lot” lower…that would still put Oxford at or around 1300…which means it is very selective and draws pretty talented students (that’s like 300 above the national mean).
