I recently talked to a guy who's on his way to Duke next year, and he told me that for some schools (like, say, Stanford), only legacy and recruits are accepted in ED/EA and that it is actually BETTER to go through normal app. Does anyone know anything about that?

No. I think what he told you was complete garbage. They're more likely to accept legacies, and certainly more likely still to accept those who apply early, but that's not all they accept.

Hmm..I think it's garbage too. Sounds very unreasonable. If there's a candidate who's a perfect fit, they'll take him/her on ED/EA basis if that's their policy.

It's garbage. I know someone who got into Stanford SCEA without being a legacy or recruit.

ur friend's sabotaging you.
it doesn't make sense anyways, why would colleges do that?

actually it's definitely not true that ONLY legacy/recruits get accepted.
but i guess there's some truth to there's a higher chance of getting in ED/EA for legacies, since they know the student wants to go there.

I never heard of it either.
