Question about ENC 1101 vs. AP English Literature

<p>ok heres the problem
I'm doing CEN specialized in Software (Computer Engineering) and I have ENC 2210 required for composition. However ENC 2210 has ENC 1101 as its prerequisite .. so basically I would need to take ENC 1101 before taking 2210. however, i just got my AP Eng Lit score back and I passed it. AP Eng Lit would grant me the credit on AML 2070 and I found out that in order to take AML 2070 at UF, you have to take ENC 1101 as its prereq too . So .... the question is, do I still need to take ENC 1101? or can I just go straight to ENC 2210?</p>

<p>I am assuming that this means that you did not take and/or pass the AP Language test. You could always try the CLEP test. If you take the Freshman English composition WITH Essay clep test and PASS it (with only a 50!!!) you will get credit for ENC 1101! Great deal! The test is given usually about twice a week at the on campus testing center (cost is about 85$...don't remember exactly). </p>

<p>@_@ well i don't want to pay for it if I don't need to. I just checked at FSU, they granted ENC 1101 for AP lit too so I'm wondering if UF is doing the same?</p>

50 out of what? and also, what are C pass and B pass... will that affect my GPA?</p>

<p>You do not neet to take ENC 1101. While you did not get course credit for it, you got credit for AML 2070, so you are NOT required to take 1101.</p>

<p>Great news (not having to take ENC 1101)! On CLEP though, it is graded like a psat (20-80). Passing is a 50 and it dosen't matter if you do better (B pass)...a 50 or above gives you 3 credits for ENC 1101 at UF.
BTW, my daughter is currently taking ENC 2210 (Tech writing) online. It's a useful class and is fairly easy (to do well in).</p>

<p>hmmm .. adviser from the English department said that technically, I'm allowed to take ENC 2210, but the registration won't be me do it, so he told me to call back whenever the AP scores are posted on ISIS =/.</p>
