<p>One of the essay topics says that you can submit an essay that you submitted for another school as the longer one for UNC. Does that mean that the essay still has to answer one of the other prompts or can it be about a completely different topic? If it can be completely different, do you have to submit what the prompt is?</p>

<p>My son submitted an essay that he used for another school. The only problem was the length - UNC wanted a shorter essay. He did edit the essay down and I believe he ended up with a better essay! I even suggeted he submit the shortened essay to the original school - which he declined. He made UNC OOS and did not make the first school with the longer essay. I'm sure it was not the essay ..... but you never know!</p>
