Question about Essay?

Rice is my top choice, and I hear that the essay is a big deal. I have good enough stats... but I know that I need to show who I am.

I'm a senior, so I'm working on it now. I'm still deciding what I'm writing about. However, I'm not sure what aspect of myself I should write about.. like, socially? or emotionally? Anyone who made it into Rice willing to share what they wrote about in their essays?

I just want an idea of where I should go with this please! :)

While easier said than done… but don’t over think it. The more you have to think about it (stress about it), the more awkward the essay will come across. Write what is comfortable for you… it will flow better and be more natural and will come across better.

In general, write about something you are passionate about … something/someone that motivates you.

Good luck.

When it comes to highly selective schools, the essay is always important. Everyone who applies to Rice is going to have good grades and test scores, so the essay is really your chance to show them what sets you apart from the rest of the applicant pool. Write about something that you are passionate about, but also something that sets you apart from other people and will cause the admissions folks to take a second look at you. Best of luck.
