Question about Fall Orientation?

So I got a dilemma kinda. Dunno if this is the right place or not.

For my college, F. Orientation starts on August 17. We just meet ppl, move in, and receive/change our class schedule. Anyways, a problem comes up since my family decided to go to CA (family reasons) for a couple of days. (August 16-19). Schools starts on Aug 22, so I still got a couple of days before schools starts. I guess if I decide to go, I will miss a few days.

So I am wondering if F. Orientation is really important? Like can I miss a few days and still be ok for college? Or what do you guys think? Oh yeah, I went to Summer Orientation past week and meet alot of ppl. And I got an idea of my schedule and campus too.

Dunno what to do. Parents said I should go but...

Thxs

Go to orientation. It will get you off on the right foot -- and you'll be able to meet a few people who, like you, will be eager to make friends.

Many people say that it opens a lot of opportunities for you to meet new friends, and after orientation, most people already have friends to hang out with and it'll be hard for you to make new friends.

That's not completely true. You can always meet new people. It just depends on your personality. If you're an extrovert, not going to orientation will not hurt you in any way. If you're an introvert, going to orientation will not help you.

I would go unless it's going to be a huge problem. Getting to move in on time and all of that.

Scheduling classes is probably one of the first things they'll do, after placement testing and dealing with AP exemptions. If you miss the first 3 days, you'll register for classes late and there's a good chance that all the classes you want will be full. As others have said, it's also a good way to make friends before classes start. You can't bump up the CA trip by a few days? I would think your parents would want you at both the vacation and all of orientation too.

definitely try to go to orientation.

Unless someone in your family is dying, Go To Orientation. You'll be glad you did.
