what exactly is the GC supposed to clarify on the application? for example, my school is very limited (no clubs, one sports team, and three APs). another example (check out my post "hello to all in here!" on the harvard section of IVY LEAGUE). if so, how is this done? also, what is the best way to get good recs from teachers and counselor? what makes them stand out? good writing, good feeling? e.g. my hebrew teacher does not have hte greatest facility with the englsh language but apparently she loves me b/c im very interested in learning (when my modern hebrew class was supplanted with another class i still learned wiith her). thanks to all who respond!

Find out from your GC if they send out a copy of the school profile, which will explain all of this along with the average SAT scores for your school, what % of students attend 2/4 year schools and where they are admitted.

This may not be the best person to write your recommendation. Maybe your teacher will consult with one of his/her peers who can help them with writing the recommendation.

Well my GC is a very good person. I moved to the US for Sophomore year (finishing soph yr now) and I told her how would not taking any Honors classes for Soph. year would affect my transcript. She said it was totally fine, since I came FOR sophomore year, so there was no way I Could know about the HONOR classes nor get recommendations from my former school. I was quite worried, since sooo many sophomores were taking Honors classes. Apparently, she is going to clarify why I didn't take any accelerated classes during my Sophomore year.

From what I get from my GC, she writes about the student as a whole. It can be whether he/she is an avid TIMES reader or a CompSci. fanatic, Classes the student takes and also about the student's personality. My GC's very kind and flexible.
