Is it common practice to hand a copy of your resume to whichever teacher you ask to write your recommendation? I'll be asking my English teacher for a recommendation, and am not sure whether to give him a resume one or not. With one, he can mention(/reinforce/remind) the admissions committee about my extra curricular accomplishments but, on the other hand, without one he will focus on my academic abilities. Which is preferable? And, of course, I don't want to come off as pretentious by handing him a resume. Advice?

Give him a resume. It makes it easier for him to show you in the best light. Just make sure you don’t come off as pretentious in your resume.

OR, ask the english teacher if they want a resume.
