When you’re asking teachers for recommendations, what sort of material would be appropriate to give them? I’ve heard of schools that give students brag sheets to fill out for their teachers, but since my school doesn’t do this I’m not sure how the teachers would look at it. I don’t know what sort of things would be appropriate to include on there either.
Any advice would be appreciated!
This isn’t the right place to post this?
Nonetheless, a resume and thank you note would be sufficient. Basically ask them to write your letter, when they say yes, ask them if there’s anything they need to write the best letter possible (they may have something you wouldn’t have thought of) and if they say nothing, tell them you’ll give them a resume. Bring them the resume, along with the thank you note. The thank you note should include anything not on your resume you’d want included in the recommendation, pertaining to the class. Examples would be instances where you and the teacher connected, tutoring by the teacher, a specific project you felt you did well on with aid from the teacher, etc.
And to keep with the spirit of the forum, I will say that I was unable (literally) to give my recommenders any supplemental information and they turned out awful. However I’m still going to a great college.
