So I am a high school senior currently enrolled at my local community college. At the end of this semester I will have 52 credit hours, and I will receive my associates degree at the end of this summer. When applying to colleges I have to fill out a freshman application instead of a transfer application. All of my credits will transfer because of the NC Articulation Agreement with NC State and I have all As so it won’t be a problem. My question is, since I am applying as a freshman does that mean that I won’t be able to take the upper level major classes and I won’t be able to graduate in 2 years like my college counselor told me?
If your college courses taken while in high school coherently prepare you to enter your major, take upper division courses, and graduate in four semesters (including all major and general education requirements), there should not be any reason you cannot do that.
Many who take college courses while in high school do not select courses with this in mind, so they may not be as ahead as their credit number indicates.
