Hey everyone!

I’m doing pre-med, and I just had a quick question.

I want to put myself in the position to get the highest GPA possible (3.7-3.9), but from what I understand, the Honors Program has more challenging classes. So, would it be to my advantage to do Honors, Scholars, or none? I want the research opportunities from Honors, but I don’t want to compromise my GPA in the process. Is getting a high GPA in Honors super difficult? Please help me! I don’t want to write the essays if Honor’s College isn’t the best option for me…

How did you do in high school? What are your SAT/ACT scores? Are you particularly strong in math and science?

I have 3.6 UW/ 4.4 W with strong upward trend. (4.0 junior year)
35 ACT
2230 SAT
Took Alg 2 Trig as a freshman, but I’m not a math genius. Good at Alg/Calc, terrible at Geometry.
Decent at Chem/Bio, not so great at Physics (got a B in Honors Physics)

Well your grades and scores definitely look like you can handle it but if you are saying you are not super strong in chem and physics you may want to stay out of honors to protect your GPA. I am no expert, so I really don’t know what else to say. I’m sorry I can’t be of more help to you. Maybe call the OSU honors college and talk to an advisor and ask what they think (you don’t have to tell them your name).

OK, thanks OhioMom!
I guess that Scholars seems like a good option too, and I can always switch in later if I decide it’s better, I guess…
