Question about how financial aid shows up on our bill/direct deposit etc.

I'm just getting really confused with how exactly the money gets to us.

My bill was reduced from two thousand something to six hundred because of part of my UCSD Grant Money. So the aid money goes to reduce our bill? Then what is direct deposit for? Who puts money in our bank accounts through direct deposit (and is it the bank account or our Tritonlink account)?

Only about a third of my grant money showed up on the bill. Do we get it in thirds like that? What about the rest of the aid (Stafford Loan and such)?

Can someone please tell me how the process works. Thanks in advance.

Yes, all of your grant and loan money goes toward the bill first. Any money you have left over is then deposited into your account (direct deposit).

The grant money is disbursed at the beginning of every quarter, so, yes, it is divided into thirds. Your Stafford loan has apparently not been disbursed yet.

Check out tritonlink. It should give you all of this information. And your lender should have told you what date the funds for the loans would be disbursed, at least my lender did.
