Question about IHUM and PWR

I have a couple of questions:

Will we find out the details of the IHUM and PWR during our meeting with the academic adviser or just before that?

Is it necessary to have an extensive list of possible classes or will be have enough time to select after finding out if we have a Fall PWR or not? Do we really have a choice in PWR or is the subject mostly assigned?

I think that you'll find out which IHUM you're in when you arrive. You can look the course up in the Bulletin (<a href="http://bulletin.stanford.edu%5B/url%5D">http://bulletin.stanford.edu</a>) for a course description, but if I remember correctly, you had course descriptions when you were ranking IHUMs. I think you can probably find out the time of your IHUM by looking at the Axess Time Schedule.

You'll find out the quarter that you're having PWR when you get to campus. I heard that the online system that tells you isn't working yet. You'll rank the PWR courses that you like a few weeks (I think) before you start PWR. Whenever you have PWR it'll be inconvenient for planning because you won't find out your PWR until probably a few days before the quarter starts, and then you'll have to hurry a bit to pick classes that fit around PWR (or you can petition for a change).

Yeah last year they just gave us a paper first day of orientation that had our IHUM and PWR assignments. You rank your PWR choices like how you ranked your IHUM ones.

You don't need to have an exact plan on what you're taking before you get your PWR assignments just keep a few classes in mind and ask your advisor (who you'll probably meet only a few times freshman year-at best).

Thanks for the replies.

Another question: are there classes that have no enrollment limits and will remain available throughout the enrollment period?

^All the classes I know have limited enrollment. That said most classes would still be open a week after school starts...
