Question about "in-state cost for an out of state school"?

So, currently I live in Washington state. I am a sophmore right now, but I have been looking at colleges like crazy. I am looking at alot of private schools, and out of state schools, but obviously I do realize a public 4 year school (for my undergraduate degree) would be smarter financially, and even though I do have time to think about it, I want to have a feeling of independence. And Washington isn't exactly a cultural hub, Seattle is cool and all, but it gets boring after a few years.

Someone I know told me of this program, the name I don't know, but it's a program where you can get in state costs for an out of state school if you live in California, Washington, Oregon, Idaho (and I'd guess Alaska and Hawaii). He's going to a school in Idaho with this. I'm quite attracted to most of the UCs (UCLA, UC Davis, UC Irvine, and UC Santa Barbra for the most part, but I am also interested in the rest of them), so this program does sound great.

Does anyone know the name of this program?

Western Undergraduate Exchange.

Sorry double post.

It is the Western Undergraduate Exchange Program. You don’t quite get “in state fees” but a big discount. The UC’s are not a part of the program but some of the Cal State U’s are. (Dominguez Hills (LA area), Sacramento State are probably the two that stand out. Most of the main campuses aren’t either. University of Colorado is but not the main campus (Boulder) only the Denver and Fort Collins campuses are.

That said there are some bigger name schools that are a part of it. UNLV, University of New Mexico, University of Arizona, University of Oregon, University of Utah, Hawaii and Boise State. Personally, I think Arizona and Oregon are particularly good along with Utah.

Click on the link. This program does need to be advertised more.

Thank you both. Sadly I don’t really find myself interested in any of those schools. Oh well, I’ll still be looking at FAFSA and scholarships!

Yeah U-Dub trumps every school in the WICHE program in my opinion.
