Hello, I'm from a country in Asia so I have to take the TOEFL iBT test to enter US college
The problem is that my TOEFL iBT score is just 89, and I'm about to apply to Mount Holyoke College for ED 1.
My SAT I score is 2110 (790M, 730W, 590CR) and my GPA is 8.9 over 10, my English average grade is 9.5 over 10.
I have lots of extracurriculars and my personal statement as well as supplement essay are not bad. I also have good counselor and teacher and peers' recommendation letters.
So I want to ask if the 89 TOEFL test score will hurt my chance to MHC?
I will take the test again on Nov 9th 2013 and know my score on Nov 19th So can I send that score to Mt Holyoke on time ( so that they can see it before making decision)?
Please answer me if you know anything. I will be very grateful.
Thanks in advance

Well, it depends: does MHC require 90 or 85?
If they require 85 or 88, you’re totally fine. If they require 90, then your Cr and writing scores will buoy you. If they require 100, it’s too low no matter what.

Thankyou for your answer,
MHC does not have a cutoff score, but the average score is 105.
I’m so worried

Your TOEFL score is a bit low, but I wouldn’t be too worried. Honestly, I doubt it’ll be a deciding factor. Your math + CR on SAT are fantastic for MHC, and you seem well qualified.

Taking it again should help. If you can get 10 points higher you’ll be great.

If there’s no cut off score, you’re fine, especially since your W is strong. Good luck, and come back to post your results in a “got in!” results thread :))

thank you!
I hope that I will get admitted as really love Mount Holyoke :)
