Question about lamps

I read somewhere that in each person gets a bed, desk, dresser (drawers?) and maybe a wardrobe or closet. How true is this?

Also you need a table lamp for the desk. But how about a bedside lamp for people who studies in bed??? Are there bedside tables?

I love...lamp

My D brought three lamps (and was glad she did!) A desk lamp. a bedside table lamp (bring something to use for a table too) and a floor lamp.

Thanks for input 1ofeach. I was thinking that the room may only have 1 overhead lamp/light hence dark. So a table lamp for the desk and a lamp for the bedside to read on the bed. Btw it is for DS.

1ofeach, do you know if the beds are mattresses on boxsprings or are they just mattress on wooden frames. Reason: need to buy zip up allergy covers for both if there are both.

The mattress rests on a wire/spring platform. You just need to buy one cover. Your son is in for a fun year!!!! My D is counting the days till she goes back.

Each room has one overhead light. It works, but it's kind of institutional-looking and can get grating after awhile. Bring a desk lamp to make it feel more homey. I got by without a bedside lamp -- it's not really a good idea to study in bed.

that was too easy

obviously, this is more one of personal preference. Son had a desk lamp and said he rarely used it.
