Question about Legacy

I know being a "legacy" does not boost one's chances that much, but I was wondering about the definition. My mom went to Princeton Graduate School; do you think this will give me any leg up in applying SCEA?

generally it’s only undergrad. but it can’t hurt.

Does a great-great-grandfather count?

Parents who attended Princeton as undergrads.

In my (limited) experience siblings legacy helps

Does your mother donate to Princeton’s Annual Giving program?

Giving, especially significant gifts, could make a difference. However, large donations have less of an effect than than people realize, as many big donors will attest.

If she earned her PhD at Princeton and then disappeared from the University’s view, her alumni status means less.

Sounds like you’ll probably apply to Princeton anyway, so apply, put down your mother’s affiliation on the application, and then apply to other schools, too.

Best of luck.
