Most of my counselors/anyone I have asked says I should have one recommendation from a junior year teacher and one from senior year.

However, I know for a fact that my AP US history teacher and my AP English Language teacher, both from junior year, could write me really great recs. Plus, I plan on possibly applying early decision to Wes, so I may not have enough time to "get to know" any of my senior year teachers.

Would it be okay to use two teachers from junior year? I wouldn't see why not, but I've seen and heard that most students choose to do one from junior year and one from senior year.

Thank you

I’m doing that too man… I dont think it will be a problem at all!

For Wesleyan, two junior year teachers would be fine. Be sure to choose one from your Humanities/Social Sciences classes and one from a Math/Sciences classes, preferably. My son two years ago chose his Junior English and Pre-Calculus teachers, added one from his Acting classes and applied for Early Decision. All three teachers had a full year of observation of him. A senior year teacher will have had only a few months of observation of you.

Pick the two teachers who you believe will write the best recommendations. If you’ve got a couple of choices, don’t be afraid to ask your advisor who writes a great rec. Some teachers may love you, but may not know how to write a really great rec and it does matter. Some teachers develop reputatations among the advisors for writing great recs. Dont worry about Jr vs. Senior year. It is absolutely best to get a humanities and math/science as noted above, but I wouldn’t do it at the expense of getting a lukewarm rec if that would be the result; my S went with two AP humanities rec’s rather than getting a rec from his AP science teacher (who he didn’t get along with that well, but S did get great grades in all his AP science/math so he was obviously not a slouch in the area), and it worked out just fine (and he was told by his counselor that the recs he got were awesome).

Awesome, thank you everyone. I sent emails to the english/history teachers, asking for recommendations, and I’m going in next week to talk to my junior year bio teacher
