Question about Major and college of choice

I found out that I was accepted through the student portal and the letter did not mention anything about the major I chose or the college. I received the physical packet yesterday and there was no mention either. How do I know If I was accepted into the college my major is in (Wiess)?

I'm just worried because UT specified that I was accepted into the college and so I though Rice would do the same or at least let me know otherwise. Help is appreciated!

Rice does not indicate which college you’re accepted into, as far as I know. It doesn’t really matter as there is no separate application for the different schools. You can switch between each just by switching your major without having to do anything extra.

Also, would you mind sharing which state you live in? I haven’t gotten my acceptance packet, and I live in the southeast.

@TarheelOwl so its just implied that I’m in the college and the major of my choice?

I am in Dallas,TX by the way.

Yes it is.
Okay, that makes me feel more at ease. I’ll be expecting mine tomorrow, then.

You don’t really declare majors at Rice until sophomore year.

Alright. Guess I shouldn’t really worry then.

I’m confused by your comment “the college my major is in (Weiss).” Weiss is one of eleven residential colleges on campus, not a college like the college of medicine at some universities. Here is the official page on them: http://www.students.rice.edu/students/colleges.asp</a>
Feel free to ask me any questions (I’m a current student). I can tell you that unless you are related to an alum you get no choice of your residential college, because they are randomly assigned. The only exception is if, say, your mom or sister was at Jones. In that case your choices are (1) I want live at Jones, (2) I am fine with anywhere except Jones, or (3) treat me like a normal student and randomly select from all 11 colleges.

Wiess School of Natural Sciences

Ah silly me!
