Question about MCAT

Hi CC,

I just wanted a quick clarification of until when an MCAT is good for. If I were to take the test in December 2012, and the score is valid for 3 years, would that include the 2015-2016 application cycle (beginning June 2015 and ending, say, May 2016, which exceeds December 2015, exactly 3 years following the test)? I am guessing that it is taken from the date I apply (e.g. June 2015) and that the score would be accepted for the whole cycle, but I want to make sure.

Thanks

Different schools have different requirements. Some count 3 years from the date of the test until application submission; some count 3 years from the date of the test until matriculation.

Unfortunately you will have to check the websites (or MSAR) for the specifics of each medical school you plan to apply to.

BTW, there are NO December 2012 test dates for the MCAT scheduled. Next sitting is in January 2013.

Thanks for the info and the heads-up, I appreciate it. Time to investigate this issue further with the individual schools.
