Question about McIntire

Cav, if I were anything but a naif what in the world would I be doing asking questions on CC? Bottom line, college is an investment and while it is comforting to know that ppl that don't make McIntire do okay I would really like to understand all of the options. I have met lots of employers that only want ppl that have particular degrees. Having said that I do appreciate the advice on double majors. It makes sense and provides a great plan B. Believe me, in a bad ecomony employers can get mighty picky. It's just a reality.

I know that the job opportunities for McIntire students are great in i-banking. But how is it for econ majors? Do they get a good share of i-banking recruitment as well?

bump, interested in the last question as well. McIntire publishes their placement numbers, but there's nothing like that for the college. how does econ/math double major in competing against McIntire students for ibanking/trading jobs?

b238 could I trouble you for the link on the McIntire placement numbers?
Thanks!

This is the 2006 report, but they should have the 2007 one out before the onset of the fall semester.

By the way to the original poster. You do not have to be in the college to apply to McIntire. You can apply from the e-school. Most of the college distribution requirements are not pre-reqs or requirements for McIntire.

Having said that its really tough to balance the required classes for the e-school and the comm school pre-reqs. I think its impossible without a lot of AP credit or taking a third year before applying to the comm school. You have to finish the language requirement, take econ 201 and 202, comm180, 201 and 202 and a humanities class before applying to the comm school on top of the e-school classes. This is why pretty much everyone who wants to do McIntire is in the college. I don't know much about the e-school requirements myself, I'm not sure what you can push back to after you second year. Im sure there is someone in the e-school you can meet with to see if a schedule can be worked out that meets your needs.
