Which meal plan is the best to get? I'm confused because the middle one says you get 120 meals a quarter which is like 11 meals a week. That's really light. Even the largest one sounds small with only 15 meals a week.

How does this work? I'm really confused...

I would sign up for the 120 meal plan. It also comes with 75$ that you can spend anywhere on campus (snacks, Starbucks, food related stuff). You get 75$ every quarter and it rolls over until the end of the academic year.

Chances are you will be sleeping later and waking later. Most people just skip breakfast (wake up around 11AM, but it really depends on schedule) and go straight for lunch. If you make friends with someone with a car you can save some of your meals by eating out on weekends.

Truth be told: IF you are like me and MUST eat 3 solid meals a day, I would recommend something simple, like milk/cereal in the morning and eating 2 meals a day. Most people end up with SOO many meals left over. Just ask them to swipe you in.

I would honestly not recommend the 165 meal plan, you will get sick of the food eventually. PLus you wouldn’t wanna end up with 20-30 plus meals like some people.

I don’t understand how someone uses 11 means a week. For 7 days a week that’s not even a full 2 meals a day!

The meal plans are structured based on whether or not you are planning to go home on the weekends. The 120 meals (11 meals per week) are meant for students who go home during the weekends so they will be on campus 5 days a week (5* lunch and dinner = 10 meals). The 165 meals (15 meals per week) are meant for students who plan to be on campus 7 days a week (7*lunch and dinner = 14 meals).

Of course, each person is different. Some may not want to eat at the commons all the time. That’s where the dining card comes into play.

Try the 120 meal plan. You get a chance to increase or decrease it toward the end of the first quarter for a small fee. But you’re likely to want to get some meals off campus or sleep in or eat breakfast in your room or order pizza.
If you start running low in fall quarter, pay cash for breakfast.

Why doesn’t include breakfast? Do most people just eat a bowl of cereal or something in their dorm?

Most people won’t get breakfast…they rather sleep. Trust me, 120 is more than enough and in the end, you’ll still have some left over. You’ll get sick of the food pretty fast.

i agree with the breakfast thing. sometimes you have an 8am class and depending on how far it is, you might have to get up pretty early to walk/bike comfortably, and if you want breakfast you’ll have to get up even earlier. plus breakfast on weekends is only continental and really isn’t worth a swipe

Meals are all one swipe on the meal plan, but if you pay cash, breakfast costs less than lunch which costs less than dinner.
