I have taken the ACT 4 times already including the state testing, however, I have not sent any of the national test scores to my school just so it wont be on the transcript.

Dec (29) Feb (28) March (30) April (32)

My highest scores on the subjects are as follows:
English 35
Math 34
Reading 29
Science 32

Now, after all this, I do not know if i should retake. I have a feeling I could probably improve my reading.

I am thinking about applying to Ivies, Michigan, MSU, Northwestern HPME and other medstarts. Should I retake??

A 32 is definitely solid. I’ve taken it twice in December (27) and just now in April (30). I plan to take it again with hopes for a 32, but in your case, I’d leave it as it is. You’ve already taken it four times and you have a great score.

I have already finished the red Official ACT book, what other books can I use to increase my score (I really want a 32/33 or higher to get me into the top schools)? I have heard that the Barron’s books are harder than the actual ACT and really help you increase your score. Is this true?

Haha paki I have no idea. I never get 30s on practices, I guess I just concentrated and gave it all I had, and got a 30. Still though, I want that 32/33.

Sorry I don’t have an answer for you because I raise something up and lose on something else. I was really hopeful after seeing your 2 point score jump from state mandatory test to April ACT. My hopes are dashed. I am stuck at the same 32.

I’m in the same sort of predicament. My score is fine - a 31. In fact, it’s at or above 75th percentile for all of my favorite schools. But I feel dissatisfied. Let us know what you decide.

I was looking at Harvard and Northwestern HPME. Harvard scores are 31-35 or something along that. I guess for Harvard I am in the bottom 25% and will probably not get in correct?

HPME is very competitive and I am wondering will a one or two point increase help significantly or should i just concentrate on the SAT Subject Tests and do well on them and APs and extracurriculars?

I recommend that you continue taking the ACT test until you are completely satisfied with your score or you believe that you have done the absolute best you can. From what it sounds like, you are neither completely satisfied nor do you feel that you have done the best you can. I say that because you’re a junior, you should give it at least one more shot. A 32 is a great score and is good enough to get admission into any university in the U.S., but I feel that you have nothing to lose by trying one more time. My recommendation: forget about the ACT for a while, finish up your junior year, enjoy your summer, and take one more crack at the ACT perhaps in October of your senior year. I increased my composite score 4 points between April of my junior year and October of my senior year. Obviously you shouldn’t expect to do the same, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see a one or two point composite score jump.

So… based on this, you are probably in the middle 40-50%, however, I would advise for you to take the SAT with the ACT because most (98%) has submitted the SAT
