My ACT score came out to be 33 composite.
I know that is a decent score.

However, the score breakdowns were:
Math 36
English 35
Reading 34
Science 26

This is actually my second time taking the ACT -- the first time, the same thing happened with science. However, I didn't prep as much as I wanted to so I ran out of time again.

My main problem is money. Should I invest for another try at the test in June? Will it make a significant difference on my composite if I got a 30+ on the science section? Will it matter for most colleges?

The highest composite you could get by improving the science score is a 35, and you could achieve this by getting a 33 on the science portion. To get a 34 on the test, you’d need a 29 on the science portion. There are many variables in deciding whether it is worth it for you to take the test again.

If you think the possible two composite points are worth your money, then there’s not much more to say. Take it again. However, if that isn’t worth it to you, then you need to consider the colleges you want to attend. Do they superscore the science portion of the test? If they do, and you believe that a 26 may be low, you might want to take it again.

However, a 33 composite is a pretty excellent score and for most colleges, that will get you in to most schools including HYP as long as your GPA is good. So the choice really is up to you on whether or not those points are worth it.
