I was invited to apply to the National Honor Society in my school (meaning that I would easily be able to get if i did apply) but i chose not to becasue i didnt not want to pay the money fee and write the essays and also because colleges view it as generic because so many people are in it and it quite easy to get into it.

So will this hurt me in college admissions if im not in NHS?

that's weird, you don't have to pay to be in nhs at my school...

or write any essays...

wow we've got it pretty easy

you don't need to be in nhs, if you have leadership in other clubs that is better than to be a member of any club

there are so many threads on NHS with the same questions. i say, if it's a low-effort thing to join you may as well, but never pay a fee for an honor (including Who's Who and National Society of High School Scholars or w/e). NHS is less of a leg up for college than it is a way to honor hard working students in high school
