question about NIH

Is there an NIH building in southern new jersey? I know there are lots of institutes for NIH but im wondering if there are any in NJ?

I'm seconding this . . . also an NJ resident.

I do not know if there is a specific NIH building in NJ (don't think so) but there are lots of research funded by the NIH all over - I am sure tons at Robert Wood Johnson med center and other facilities in NJ. What is the largest medical center near you? Are you looking to do some research in high school?

yea research in high school but i dont know where to look

I suppose you want to do some kind of health care related research? Check out

<a href="http://grants2.nih.gov/grants/award/trends/State_Congressional/StateDetail.cfm?year=2005&state=NJ%5B/url%5D">http://grants2.nih.gov/grants/award/trends/State_Congressional/StateDetail.cfm?year=2005&state=NJ</a></p>

This link has a listing of all of the places in New Jersey that received NIH funding for year 2005. That will give you some lead about who is doing research in your area. You can also do some advanced searches on the NIH site to see what the grants are for.

If you are looking for something science related - how about Bell Labs? Bell Lab is now the R&D division of Lucent Technology. I think landing a research position there would be very pretigious and their R&D headquarters is in NJ.

Aside from these two - I would suggest that you approach your local Health Department and find out if they are doing anything there - it may be more epidemiological research so it won't give you that "lab" experience. Good Luck

Just wanted to mention that the epidemiological research could help out if you ever wanted to do the YES contest.

Thanks for the info, MagsMom!
