question about number of units/schedule in general/getting from place to place

ohkay, SO many questions, here we go....

How does this schedule look:

History 5- 4 units
Physics C10 - 3 units
Poli Sci 179- 1 unit
Theatre 10- 3 units
PE Ballet- .5 units
PE Tap- .5 units
History of the Beatles Decal -2 units

14 units total

I realize that is a lot of classes, but really its only 14 units, and I personally do not consider theatre, or either of the pe dance classes to be real classes, so i think it will be fine...hopefully...

Question....you dont get the ccn to register for the decal until once classes have already started, and for the theatre class you have to audition and be accepted so u dont get the ccn or register until later either. So right now I am only registered for 9 units. Is this a problem? like do u have to have 13 units by the first day of school? like will something bad happen if i dont have enough units?

so with berkeley time, ive got ten minutes to get to back to back classes right? Will i have any problems getting to any of these back to back classes?

pimentel to cory
cory to giannini
giannini to lewis
pimentel to hearst gym

I REALLY appreciate any answers you have. THANKS!

that schedule looks really easy. make sure you won’t fall behind for your major by only taking 1 or 2 “real” classes. but if you want to take a nice, easy first semester and know that it won’t hurt you in the long run, that should be fine.

yes, that is a problem because if you don’t get in to those classes you might not reach the minimum number of units. it’s not a huge deal because you’ll still have a few weeks (I think it’s 5 weeks) to become officially enrolled, so you can look for other classes.

those should all be fine. cory to giannini will be tricky, and will also depend on the construction on the naval architecture building and if they finally open up the steps by the CITRIS building. I did it last semester and made it from cory to the 3rd floor of giannini so you should be o.k., but I HIGHLY RECOMMEND you route out the path one or two times beforehand if you don’t want to be late. Cory is a funky building without very many exits because it’s built into the hill. Last semester I had to go across Hearst to the sidewalk next to Soda and Etcheverry because of the construction, then cross back by North Gate to walk on the path to Giannini.

Thanks so much for the advice.

1.I agree that it is really easy, but my major is history, and I’d love to add another history class, but people keep telling me that having two history classes at once would be too much (too much reading etc…). Do you think that is true?

But I have 5 weeks to figure it all out, right? I dont have to have at least 13 units at the start of the semester?

Do you (or anyone else) think I should make my schedule harder? I am completely open to doing that, but I want to add classes that satisfy either a history pre-req, or a bredth, or a r/c. Should I add one of those and drop something easy im taking now?

You have 5 weeks to add classes, but if you have financial aid, you’ll need 13 units to get it. Also, in those 5 weeks, you’ll need to attend all your backup classes as well.

Gianinni to Lewis is pretty hard, it’s all uphill and diagonal from each other.

I don’t think PS179 fulfills anything b/c it’s 1 unit and breadth requires 2+ units, I suggest dropping that and finding a 2-3 unit course that fulfills a breadth that your major might not fulfill. Check the seminars because those are great ways to fulfill breadth without having to do a 3-4 unit class.
