Question about online AP

My daughter is finishing 10th grade. She is interested in enrolling in the Fall 2014 term for AP Human Geography AB at Georgia Virtual School. She would like to know a few things before she enrolls.

Firstly, how many hours would she need to devote a day to this course?

Secondly, for those who have enrolled in GAVS, we have a question about the final exams. It seems that finals must be proctored in a separate location from the school. We are located 64 miles north of Manhattan, in Dutchess County, NY. Where would the test be proctored?

Thirdly, how harsh do teachers grade? I have heard horror stories about how some teachers grade extremely harshly online. This worries us because she wants a good grade for her transcript, otherwise she would have just self-studied.

If anyone is interested, I thought I’d share that my 11th grade daughter is having an excellent experience with AP Computer Science online with Florida Virtual School. The year-long course cost $800. She gets daily feedback from the excellent teacher and he cc’s the parents. He is exceptional and pays acute detail to everything she does. She is doing very well. He wrote to me personally that if she continues to excel at this level, she will get a 5 on the AP test. And, most importantly–we wouldn’t have done it otherwise–the grade and class are recorded onto her HS transcript and calculated into her GPA. So you might like to check it out.
