So I've signed up to take AP Human Geography next semester on GAVS, but I'm not quite sure what to expect... Does anyone have any experience with taking courses through GAVS? Particularly APHG? I'm prepared to put in as much work as needed, I'm just curious as to whether I need to do any kind of prep beforehand or things like that. Anything you can tell me would be great!

Bump… Has anyone done any classes through GAVS or something similar in another state?

I know this might be irrelevant.
But is the Georgia Virtual Online where you get tutor on AP or other kind of classes. ??

My daughter took Geometry through GVS during a summer session. It’s been several years ago, but I don’t remember her having any problems with it as long as you stay on track with the timeline. She did have to go to KSU to take a proctored final, I assume so they know it was actually her that did the online work. She did have access to a virtual teacher through email and phone that she did use a few times. Good luck.

xgedokid1412: nah it’s where you take actual courses with an actual teacher, but through the internet

GA2012MOM: What exactly do you mean by timeline? My school’s assistant principle (who was the one who told me about this) has given me practically no information about the course or what exactly I would need to do… Do you remember if she had to do anything to prep for the course beforehand? I just want to make sure I do this right and do it well. Oh, and thanks for telling me she was able to access a teacher, that makes me feel quite a bit better.

You are given a syllabus that you follow so you are done with all the material before your final. For instance it may say chapters 1 through 3 are to be done by a certain date and then take a quiz. The nice thing is the flexability, so if you have a busy week you can sit down on the weekend and catch up. Yes, the teacher was nice to have and I’m sure it depends on the teacher, but my D’s was very prompt in answering emails and returning calls.
