so penn has 4 colleges right? (engineering, business .... etc.) I was wondering if the 4 colleges are completely on their own when accepting/rejecting students. EXAMPLE TO CLARIFY: if i applied to COA and this other dude in my school applied to engineering, would coa reject me just becuz some guy from the same school that applied to engineering was accepted? (assuming penn only takes one from my school.... which has been the case for the past 3 years)

Penn is not going to reject one student because any of its schools–whether its Engineering, Wharton, CAS or Nursing–accepted another student. Ever. Colleges don’t just pick one token kid from each high school; they look at each applicant separately. If you’re qualified and you write good essays and you make yourself desirable to the admissions counselor, you’ll get in. If not, you won’t. You say one kid from your school gets into Penn each year, but that’s just a lucky coincidence. Some years, two or more can get in. Other years, it could be no one.

Hope I’ve helped :)
